I like “highly accountable to staff!”
are you on twitter?
You mentioned Twitter, so how do you select which library systems or individuals to follow?
Could we see that last slide with linked resources again?
how do you effectively "support the team and the leader" when you don't agree? I realize not to be public about it
Also, what thoughts would you share with someone who took their first management post in the midst of crisis? (i.e. MEEEEE!!!!!)
Being supportive denotes positivity to me, not supporting a decision denotes negativity to me and this is not something that helps organizations thrive
Through the history of my career I have found that the most difficult thing to do was to break unpopular, difficult news to staff members about policy changes. How best to approach this? The decision wasn't something I can change or influence.
@jane the biggest thing that has helped me is to first find the benefit of the change and lead with that. And then open the floor to discuss the difficulty openly remember to point back to how the benefits make the difficulty worthwhile
how do you set boundaries with staff? I don't follow or friend my staff on social media.
When I became a supervisor, I stopped using social media entirely to avoid the temptation follow or friend staff and vice versa, but I also realize that may be too extreme of a solution for others.
Great presentation. Thank you
