The students who you saw in the video at the beginning were actually from the IGERT program (we filmed it before recruiting our first AgBioFEWS cohort).

Do we have to find additional funding for the first year, while Agbiofews funds the other two years from 2022?
Melissa Scheuer
54:44
Was wondering if this program can be done as distance education with periodic trips to NCSU?
Leonard Parker
56:04
1- Will this cohort start fresh with their ideas and findings or just build on to prior cohort work?2-Is there a single area that this cohort needs to consider as they look at the issues on the eastern part of NC agriculture?
Estefania Polli
01:03:06
Hi, I was wondering how is it going to be the evaluations to select the students for this fellowship? By the end of the third year will the students have a individual thesis? How the PhD projects and advisors are defined for each student? How many students are usually selected by cohort?
Dotun Olaoye
01:03:37
Giving the structure of the program (2-year support), does it mean efforts must be directed at getting a potential supervisor? If a supervisor's commitment is secured, must the thesis be mandatorily be in the line of the AgBioFEWS program(BIOTECH)?
Omoyemeh Ile
01:03:42
Hi everyone. My name is Omoyemeh, a first year PhD student in FER at NC State. What kind of farmers (crops they grow) would we meet in eastern NC? Will it be a cross of them? If a student is accepted and will like to talk with a particular set of farmers (e.g tobacco growers) is that possible?
Bethany Mostert
01:05:17
I am currently in the midst of applying to the master's program for microbial biology, but should I make it a PhD application instead to apply to AgBioFEWS?
Omoyemeh Ile
01:06:47
Also, for those that may not/do not have any form of genetics training? Will there be like intro courses in genetics?
Michael Phillips
01:07:32
Are the excursions to study eastern NC agriculture be to established farming partnerships with AgBioFEWS/NCSU, or will they be chosen based on the focus of research?
Rebekah Brown
01:09:08
I have been speaking to the graduate admissions for Food Science and Nutrition but they require a Master’s first. My advisor recommended that I apply to the PhD program and let it “rest” until I completed other requirements. Would the PhD application still be valid for AgBioFEWs if I applied like that?
VANESSA RONDON
01:09:34
Would the topic of the thesis taken into account as a criteria for the selection of the student?
Estefania Polli
01:10:04
Thank you!
Melissa Scheuer

Marko Piskac

1 - Since I have done both my bachelor's thesis and my master's thesis in entomology I would like to continue in that direction and I am currently applying to the Phd program in entomology. I've seen in this presentation that you have already chosen some students in that area of work. Is there a specific number for each course that you are chosing each cohort ?
