I had a student who didn't submit a video for assessment and when offered an extension said he wasn't going to submit one because he "had no motivation and hated school"
Sheila Carrera-Justiz
22:41
By university policy, we are not allowed to request/require students to turn on camera
Caroline Laplante
22:52
I’ve noticed a greater level of confusion with both DVM and graduate students with remote learning.
April Kedrowicz
27:01
Sarcastic comments in the chat could be an indicator
Beth Kitts-Morgan
27:50
In meeting with students on Zoom, I've had students get emotional when discussing exams or just give one-word answers and not wanting to engage in conversation
paul.schmidt
27:59
Much more difficult to assess remotely because a withdrawn attitude wouldn't be readily apparent
Kathryn Daily-Trude
28:42
Lack of participation with questions both asked by the professor or a lack of questions coming from the students when their scores are showing that they are not understanding the concepts
gary.vroegindewey@lmunet.edu
29:21
Students are not required to attend live Zoom but can watch recording. Would you required periodic live participation?

If grades trend down suddenly and dramatically, it could reflect a non-academic influence and warrant a wellness check

One of my cats likes to join Zoom calls and I use that to engage students and talk about pets to get them start the conversation. Also key on their interests.

I would also like the answer to that (Dr. Kelly's question). Unfortunately police responding to mental crisis don't always end well. There are some states that have been moving towards sending other resources that are better equipped to help in those situations, do we have those resources.
