We've heard a few students mention lack of competitive grading leaves them feeling unmotivated. I imagine we can attribute some to that.

Agree: I've seen a big change. I still hate teaching 3D skills online, but the videos do help their self practice. The motivation seems to hit about 20% hard. The organized ones love it. They have also learned in my course that reaching a competent on a skill is not a given and the remediation option makes it less scary.
