Q1: Strengthening families and communities that support children provide protective factors in the prevention of abuse and neglect. Our faith communities are often called upon as “first responders” when people are in crisis, even if they do not belong to the church or faith practice. COVID restrictions are making it difficult to connect in a way we are familiar with. How are you and your congregations “strengthening and connecting” with families during this time?

13:54
hey folks. our church started a good shepherd program where we had a team contact every member each week for the first 2 months. now they reach out every 3-4 weeks.

14:18
we also have a weekly communion team who drops off communion to our homebound or recovering from surgery members

14:53
That is amazing, Jonathan! Great protective factors!

15:51

20:43
And we do drive thru communion

20:54
Q2: What kind of resources and supports would you like to have to support families? How would you promote these in your congregation/community/organization?

21:52
Cliff is really good an “volunteering” other people

50:43
Q4. By providing information to our faith communities and communities at large, we can equip one another with knowledge and compassion. What resources and strategies are you currently using to raise awareness of the resilience supports in shifting our perspective from “what is wrong with you” to “what has happened to you” to “what is right with you?”

55:56
Empathy is SO vital.
