I am building a 6x36ft raised bed, 1 ft high. I have turf with little to no topsoil beneath it, and then heavy red piedmont clay (Cary NC). Is a foot of 50/50 compost/native topsoil (from supply company) in the raised bed sufficient, or should I till some of that into the surface beneath the raised bed too?

I have eight plants for personal use ...I have mounds on red clay.. I French drained the red clayunder.. I also have them on drip.. Any holes on the donut? I have also used Coffee Chaffe from a freind that coffee roasts.. It is light and acidic.
