Meryl Murman is a choreographer and filmmaker juxtaposing choreographic, cinematic and live art practices to create works that emphasize interactivity and intimacy as radical acts. Her queer films and choreographies derived from experiments at the intersection of cinema and dance disrupt popular notions of spectacle, the body, virtuosity and gender. Her practice reflects her Arab American diaspora lineage emphasizing hybridity and the Levantine tradition of bridging cultures while insisting on the imagination as a site of resistance and liberation.
