The purpose of the North Carolina and Virginia Forest Landowner Conference is to inform and educate landowners on strategies for estate planning; on programs and technical assistance available through state forestry agencies, U.S. Department of Agriculture agencies, and local timber industry. The keynote speaker is Curtis Wynn, President & Chief Executive Officer, Roanoke Electric Cooperative.
Session 1. October 27, 2020, 6 pm-7:30 pm - Financial Assistance
Landowners will receive information on state and federal services and programs available to forestland owners and farmers in the form of cost-share programs and technical assistance.
Session 2. October 28, 2020, 10 am-11:30 am - Taxation
Landowners will receive information about Present Use Valuation and other programs with tax implications, as well as the role that Forest Management Plans play with regard to eligibility for these programs.
Session 3. October 28, 2020, 1 pm-2:30 pm - Economic Opportunities
Landowners will receive information about solar energy programs, recreational leasing and other ways to derive income from their property.
